Still painting the town red and having redefined the cabaret club scene with fond memories still being cast from their legendary nights at Bar d’O, New York City’s very own Joey Arias and Sherry Vine are together again. The dynamic duo are preparing four unprecedented performances at the XL Cabaret beginning Tuesday, Nov. 20.

After shaping the fabric of New York City cabaret culture for more than a decade, these icons have decidedly pushed their art form as performers onto a level that is without parallel. Like a pair of kids in a candy store they’ve designed a spectacle for the cabaret space at XL that is certain to engage, titillate and remind their audience of what nightlife is all about.

"We are excited because it’s been so long since we’ve done something together in New York," says Sherry Vine. The two entertainers do often find themselves globe-trotting across the circuit scene appearing everywhere from Berlin to Amsterdam, reuniting to relive the nights at Bar d’O. "We haven’t done anything like this in New York in like twelve or thirteen years."

The duo have entitled the show "Looking Back at the Future" and for a very good reason. "We want to give people something that they want to see," Sherry explains. "People will want me to do something silly and dirty - one of the parodies, but we also want to give the audience something more." Sherry Vine has established her comedic menace as a YouTube sensation with her own often raunchy takes on today’s most popular music videos. "We’re doing some Broadway and rock and roll...a little bit of everything. It’s going to be a big show!"

The sultry, jazz/bluesy couture style that has been a signature of Joey Arias’ incredible career will also be front and center. Joey cheerfully expressed sheer glee at returning to the stage with Sherry Vine for this special engagement. "It feels like a retrospective of our lives," Joey shares, "without being sentimental - we’re looking at the future of our lives." The two have been thrilling audiences across Europe, and Arias wrapped a series of Vegas shows for "Cirque de Soleil." And of course we have to mention the critically well-received "Arias With a Twist" that was a marvelous success for the fearless entertainer.

"We’ve never done one of these shows in New York before," Joey says. Promising to continue to push the envelope of both their unique stage antics. Arias plans on belting out several Billie Holiday standards, dazzle the audience with colorful anecdotes, all the while probably dressed to the nines in an original design by Thierry Mugler. Joey adds: "It’s a wonderful, theatrical love affair between Sherry and I. We’re like two bookends."

After so many years of working together, the two continue to especially keep each other on their toes...or stiletto heels as it would be. With such diverse styles of performing it’s a marvel that they’ve been able to keep the chemistry going at such a combustable pace. "You wouldn’t expect it to, but we balance each other out very well," Sherry insists. "I like to rehearse, and Joey is so spontaneous - which I love. I could never do that...but it does work!"

With two such strong and gifted artists having an endless list of tricks up their sleeves, four nights may not be enough to contain their enthusiasm. Sherry imagines that XL’s fans may get more than they bargained for every night of the show’s run. "Sometimes things will happen - a little nuance - that will make the songs different," Sherry predicts, "but that’s what will make it so great." And Joey agrees, "We’re going to be the best at what we do, putting a show on for the kids - it’s very inspiring!"

Take a look back, and get an earful of the future with the iconic Joey Arias and Sherry Vine as they show us all how it’s done...and how they keep doing it. Don’t delay! The future of nightlife has never looked brighter.
