Spring has officially arrived in Boston, and like anything else, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a glass of good wine. Better yet, a glass of wine and a good view. The best venue in Boston to achieve such a quest is the weekly wine tasting hosted by Boston Harbor Hotel’s Meritage Restaurant - every Thursday Sommelier Jonas Atwood lines up three to four wines from selected regions, while Chef Daniel Bruce masterfully whips up decadent "bites" to pair with each one.

Seasonal Sips is a great way to kick back after work (Sips goes from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) and improve your wine knowledge at the same time. Although there are comfy couches with the aforementioned fantastic view, I prefer to sidle up to the bar and take advantage of Atwood’s expertise. Recently a friend and I attended a Seasonal Sips featuring wines from Austria, a region I knew absolutely nothing about. For fear of appearing like a totally clueless lady, I Googled it 15 minutes before leaving work. But I didn’t need to worry - from glass #1 I was reminded that Atwood easily approaches guests to share the finer points of each wine and its region, and does so without the slightest air of pretension.

For $25 a person, Seasonal Sips is well-worth its price tag. I always leave feeling refreshed, relaxed, and thinking about the new wines I want to search out at my favorite wine store (The Wine and Cheese Cask in Somerville). Don’t let Spring pass you by without checking out one of their coming events; the listing through May is as follows:

April 16 :: Wine and Game
April 23 :: The best wines you’ve never heard of
April 30 :: Shellfish and Wine
May 7 :: Southern Italy
May 14 :: Sushi and Wine
May 21 :: Rosé
May 28 :: Perfect Pinot
